The centre offers refreshments in the form of soft drinks and bottled water and serves as a resting place after a walk around in the galleries.
The craft shop offers a wide variety of traditional Zambian handicrafts including basketry, paintings, woodcarvings, jewellery and other souvenirs.
The museum holds extensive reference collections in the fields of its specialty. These are accessible to researchers on request.
The museum has an archive with over 8000 records which include primary records of the colonial government, explorers such Dr. David Livingstone and his companions, early cartographic maps, note books, diaries and newspapers from as far back as 1906 when the first newspaper in the country was produced.
The museum has a vibrant education department vested with the duty of ensuring that heritage information is disseminated to the public for their enjoyment and education.
